How to Freeze Oatmeal

When you think of the ideal healthy breakfast, a few meals come to mind. Oatmeal is certainly at the top of the list. But now there is the issue of having to wait 10 minutes for the oatmeal to cook. This causes most people to opt out of oatmeal for breakfast, but guess what? You can make your oatmeal in just about five minutes. Whether you take oatmeal in its plain form or add ingredients such as almonds, you are sure to enjoy it.

Tricks to make your oatmeal in just 5 minutes or less

First, instead of making the oatmeal from scratch, you should shop for the instant oatmeal cups instead. Once you have them, put the oatmeal and your favorite toppings in a jar, and you are ready to eat.

Another trick is to make a big batch overnight on the stove and put small portions into the freezer using a lightly greased muffin tin. Once the oats are frozen solid, pop the portions out of the muffin tin and transfer them into an airtight container for use in the next morning.

You can prepare the oatmeal the next morning by simply mixing a cup of oatmeal with water or milk and warming it on low heat while stirring. This should cook in just one minute.

5 reasons why oatmeal is the ideal breakfast

1. Oatmeal contains all the vital minerals

A bowl of oatmeal is filled with a variety of nutrients. They include phosphorus, zinc, iron, selenium, and manganese.

2. Contains both soluble and insoluble fiber

Soluble fiber is particularly good for fighting the bad fats that form in the belly.

3. Assists in weight loss

Oatmeal is ideal if you’re looking to lose some kilos because of its fiber content. How this works is that the fiber absorbs water, thus taking up considerable space in the stomach. This way, you are less likely to experience frequent hunger pangs. People who eat oatmeal for breakfast have been found to eat less for lunch.

4. Contains B Vitamins

They include minerals like iron, zinc, and magnesium. They help your body turn food into energy.

5. Supports skin health

Oatmeal is rich in beta-glucans, which possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Research done in 2013 by Phytotherapy Research revealed that these properties help in preventing wrinkles and dryness, which contribute to skin aging.

How to make an oatmeal breakfast enjoyable every day

One, avoid monotony: Instead, spice up your oatmeal by adding a few ingredients, such as nuts or some chopped fruits. Select fruit toppings will also increase the fiber and fat content.

Add honey or brown sugar: To make the oatmeal taste sweeter, add some honey. Alternatively, add brown sugar, which dissolves easily in the oatmeal.

Skip the water: Instead, mix in some dairy or almond milk. Although water is the healthier option, using milk once in a while is OK.

Sprinkle on some coconut: You may use the coconut flakes or a piece of coconut. The coconut gives the oatmeal a little sweetness and creaminess.
