It seems as though we can’t go a day without someone talking about eating healthily and living a balanced lifestyle. It gets pretty boring after a while, right? Well, it seems as though we really should be talking about our bodies and what we put in them. Although fast food and mounds of fries may taste delicious, they’re not going to keep you at optimum health. Instead, you need to incorporate some more fruits and vegetables into your diet. If you don’t like vegetables, however, this can be a challenge.
Make a Smoothie
One of the best ways to add vegetables into your diet is to blend them all up into one (hopefully) delicious smoothie. By taking away the solid form and replacing it with something liquid and something that looks completely different to the fruit or vegetable, you can trick your mind into thinking that you are drinking something you do actually like. As if that wasn’t enough, sometimes mixing various fruits and vegetables together into one blended concoction can take away the taste of those you don't like and create something wonderful.
Spice Things Up
If you really want to incorporate vegetables into your diet, but just can’t face yourself to eat a raw carrot, why not spice things up a bit? Adding herbs and spices to your dishes can take the flavor to a whole new level, and sometimes even enhance or mask the original taste of the item you do not like. For example, if you’re not the biggest fan of sweet potato but want to replace your regular fries with sweet potato fries, shake a little paprika or peri-peri spices onto the potato. You won’t regret it when your taste buds are tingling.
Experiment With Texture
Vegetables and fruits are highly versatile food items, but there’s a high chance that you have been cooking them in the same way for much of your life. If you don’t like boiled potatoes or steamed vegetables, then it’s probably time to mix things up a little. You can roast your potatoes to make them crispy and delicious, you can grind up cauliflower to provide a base for your pizza, and you can even use zucchini as noodles! There are so many things you can do with vegetables if you just dare to risk it.
Keep Them Hidden
If you really, really don’t like vegetables, then it’s probably best that you just hide them altogether. You can do this by hiding them in wraps and omelets, or even mashing them together to create a yummy dip for your chips. The best way to hide them is to hide them in foods that you already like. This way, you can rest easy knowing that you’re eating one of your favorite foods, without thinking about the fact that it’s full of small and secret veggies.
Adding vegetables to your diet can be difficult if you just don’t like the taste, but it doesn’t have to be impossible. You just need to find another way to incorporate them into your diet.
